This paper sets out to explain how industry, institutional investors and venture capitalists make investment decisions and the effect this has on investment patterns observed in nanotechnology. It will also address the extent to which there are specific challenges or opportunities which affect investment in nanotechnology, both at an overall level and in six specific sectors; Transportation and Aerospace, Nanomedicine, Electronics, Energy, Materials and Food and Food Packaging.
